Get to know it
Start with a container whose previous contents you know. For growing, use appropriate food or drink packaging without cracks, flaking surfaces, or unknown residues. A small bottle makes a seedling starter rather than a permanent home for a large plant.
Shape determines how parts nest and where water can escape. Check stability, smooth edges, and access for cleaning before filling. Do not assume that every plastic can be cut with the same tool.
