Screwdriver
Drive a screw with enough control to feel how the joint is coming together.
Get to know it
Use a tip that fits the screw head closely. Hold the driver in line with the screw and keep the other hand away from where a slip would go. A sound pilot hole and a clamped assembly make the job easier.
Tighten until the pieces meet firmly; stop before stripping the head or crushing the wood. A joint that will not close may need a clearance hole or a better fit rather than more force.
